Lote 8
The Hinaj association, which means women weavers in Wichi language, emerges as an organization of 200 artisans of Lote 8, community of 880 inhabitants located in the extreme west of Formosa, almost on the border with Salta and Paraguay. Together with the Gran Chaco Foundation, the women went from being artisans who were dedicated to the elaboration of the fabrics in the domestic sphere, to being producers with a commercial approach to generate work in their communities, based on the valuation of their traditional economic activities. In this organizational and commercial process, Hinaj grows incorporating not only crafts but also the production of carob flour. The Women have always been in charge of collecting the wild fruits of the mountain that allow them to feed their families and animals, but as a partnership they developed the productive approach improving the whole process of the milling and marketing of the product.
AUG is working in the design and improvement of the infrastructure for the production of harina de algarroba and natural dyes.
