More about Midlands Children Hope Project

Midlands Children Hope Project is a Norwegian non-profit organization that builds communities by investing in people’s potential. By running a network of projects offering vulnerable youth and families inspiration, knowledge and tools to develop income generating projects, the organization enables people to create long lasting change in their lives and communities on their own terms. All projects aim to be self-sustained with the purpose of not having to rely on external donations in 2-5 years after being established.

Being based in the township of Mkoba, Zimbabwe, the organization currently operates a children’s home, a drop-in center in town for street children, and 12 different community-based projects.

The project

The main goal for the organization in the coming years is to develop a community center where all community projects will be run from. This includes seminar halls, workshops, co-working spaces, community garden, recycling project and more. In a country with a 95% unemployment rate, the center should serve as an innovation hub where the people of the community themselves with their ideas and their projects lead the way for community change.
